Mid-Century Colonial Home
Designed as a timeless ode to heritage, this colonial home reimagines classic charm through a lens of modern simplicity.
The homeowners wanted a space that paid tribute to the colonial era, but without the heavy, opulent touch. Instead, they sought something raw, grounded, and natural. Working with this vision, our team crafted a home that blends colonial character with earthy warmth.
Design Highlights
From the screed flooring that softens the structure to the intricate grid windows reminiscent of historic black-and-white bungalows, every detail celebrates restraint and refinement. While curated décor pieces bring vibrancy to the natural palette, the real brick wall remains an understated detail in the living are. Balancing between structure and spontaneity of the homeowners, we aimed to create a home that feels both designed and lived in.
Moving into the hidden game zone, you’ll find hints of black and white colonial tones layered with mid-century influences. The space was intentionally designed for flexibility, allowing it to open up to the living area or close off for privacy. Every element, from the furniture selection to the interplay of hobbies and collections, ties back to the home’s central theme of effortless elegance, yet allocated playfulness.
Along the walkway, natural light pours through a skylight, casting gentle shadows that shift throughout the day. This design move reinforces the home’s breezy, open feel while complementing the raw textures underfoot. While moving to the subtly shown kitchen, woody tones and earthy finishes take the lead. Each material, from the cabinetry to the countertop textures, were chosen to harmonise with the home’s natural colonial narrative. The common bathroom continues this dialogue with classic colonial tiles paired with clean, modern segmentation to enhance spaciousness.
The master bedroom, or floor as we designed it, stands out with a textured white brick wall. A subtle nod to colonial aesthetics yet softened by neutral tones and earthy accents. It also hosts it’s own walk-in wardrobe, dresser and toilet.
Whether it’s through textures, light, or material honesty, this home tells a story of history, reinterpreted for the present. A reminder that colonial design need not be confined by formality, it can be organic, comfortable, and quietly timeless.
